Sunday lunch - Lovely food served by really friendly staff in this wonderful recently refurbished pub

Already looking forward to our next visit - Our first but definitely not last visit to the White Lion, lovely renovation to this village pub, the team here looked after us from start to finish. And then the food….all I can say is you won’t be disappointed, we all had Sunday Roasts which were first class. Looking forward to our next visit!!

Best Sunday Lunch - A warm, welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service —perfectly cooked meat, a huge bowl of hearty vegetables, cauliflower cheese and gravy the perfect finishing touch. The poached pear, Chantilly cream and brandy snap- highly recommended!!

I thoroughly recommend the Steak & craft ale pie and the lamb shank. Both delicious. I would have scored 10 for the food had there been a bit more gravy (and a bit thicker so as to coat the back of a spoon). Pudding order got a bit confused but tasty anyway. A welcoming fire would add a lot to the ambiance on a cold day. That said, my party of four said they’d enjoyed the meal and would eat there again.

Very nice evening at the White Lion We enjoyed the Welsh steak pie, the spaghetti and meatballs and the mushroom Kiev. Good service and the landlord was very welcoming Glasses of wine were rather too large for us. Might be good to have one less expensive dish on the menu ?

Great Sunday lunch in a lovely spot - Food was fabulous as always. The local lamb was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We are so pleased to have somewhere like this local again and will be back often.

High chair would have been useful for daytime family dining. 28/12/24. Lovely atmosphere in bar area for drinks on Christmas Day. 25/12/24. Your bar manager was exceptional on both of our visits.

Afternoon lunch for two - Lovely atmosphere, really enjoying the renovation, chicken burger and fish and chips were plentyful and very good quality, good portion great value, and the Hawkstone larger and cider is a must try! Will definitly be back.

Booked on-line was so easy and able to see availability and select options. Food was very good with some traditional pub restaurants menus you don’t see today. Cooked to perfection. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Will go again.

Six of us for Sunday lunch and it was all amazing. The food, service and whole experience all excellent. Our family hadn’t been inside the White Lion for many years and couldn’t believe the transformation. It is truly beautiful. Thanks so much to the chef and staff.

Superb food. I had the beef and the girlfriend had the pork! Both delicious! Bread and butter pudding is a must too. Highly recommend.

Lovely atmosphere, great service.

Friendly welcome, fabulous service from everyone, especially Carmel. Nice relaxed atmosphere, they’ve found that nice balance of homeliness, quirkiness and traditional pub. Food was outstanding. My out of towner friends are jealous of my new local. Will be back on Friday Cheers.

Our first time trying this pub and the staff were all friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. Food was amazing and we felt like we have found our new local as we own a caravan near by and visit most weekends. I always say about a restaurant is that the food can be fantastic but you always remember good or bad service and what we experienced was both fantastic food a great service.

An excellent visit to the newly refurbished White Lion. Lovely homely atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble. Service was attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. We will be returning very soon. Thank you all at The White Lion!

The White Lion Inn

The White Lion has been in the family since 1984 and when Chris hung up his bar towel and retired approximately three years ago, we bought it.

The planning permission took most of the time to get granted before we could start work. Fortunately we own a conservation construction company so the work to the building has been a process we are well versed with.

We opened the pub on 14 September, complete with an exciting new restaurant where we serve quality Welsh produce all sourced very locally from the best producers we can buy from – backing our Welsh farmers and food producers 100%. We will support the use of seasonal game in the winter months too, which is vital to the countryside community.

The bar is fully stocked with quality draught beers and the guest cask ales are changed regularly to showcase what North Wales has to offer, spirits are Welsh wherever possible and the wines are the very best quality we can provide for a reasonable cost, as no one wants cheap nasty headache wine!

We think we stand out from a lot of other pubs and restaurants in the area by being family-run and not a big corporate brewery-owned pub.

We are very much a country pub where dogs are welcome (well-behaved ones please), ponies and horses can be tied up outside while their owners stop for a drink.

We can cater for functions utilising our huge landscaped gardens and outside dining area which has room for a marquee, we also have a beautiful new sun room which is ideal as a separate function room.

We are so excited to take the old pub into its next phase now it’s had a much needed facelift, done with love – and a pile of money!
